Almost daily races & a fine community of historical F1-simulation-enthusiasts awaits you at:
All you need is a f1-simulation called "Grand Prix Legends" plus a racing-rig including steering-wheel and foot-pedals.
Actually we are racing in 5 f1-simracing-leagues:
Actual SIM-racing takes place all over the world - here is a small non commercial chapter still alive.
Back in the days when computers learned to play sounds it doesn´t last long and they learned to simulate all kinds of stuff. One of the simulations that really got us into was "Formula One Grand Prix", coded by Jeff Crammond in the early nineties (1991). A few years later, in ´98, "Grand Prix 3" by Crammond and Microprose was released, followed 2 years later by "Grand Prix 3 2000".
At the same time, in 1998, another gem, "Grand Prix Legends" by Papyrus Software, was released. And due to its capability of online-racing combined with it´s incredible realistic driving-physics, it still lingers on serving thrilling combats in f1-cars when no car-wings were invented. Some people proclaim these years (50ies - late 60ies) as the most difficult for drivers. And it seems the same with this especially sim.
Both of those "stoneage-sims" still offer an incredible grade of "realism". For example changing weather conditions including partialy differently drying tracksurfaces - a Grand Prix 3 feature even not available in most "tripple A"-releases nowadays.
But not everything was as good as today with those sims. Especially when we are talking about framerate, controller hardware or visual realism. But with every new release of one of these sims, we all had this wow-effect saying "Now it looks like real!"..
One thing is sure: The long going and incredible rich modding-community situated around all this. Still developing cars, tracks and all other kind of developments all over the world, since more than 30 years! You will be able to drive cars and on tracks long gone. Nurburgring Nordschleife, Isle of Man or the 78km Targa Florio in Sicily.
In 1998 this sim was far to difficult. There were no steering-wheel-controllers available on the market -only joysticks, and that was very limited fun at all. Driving with keyboard was very common in these days and for that input-type there was a better working sim on the market - Grand Prix 3. So me and my friends have chosen it and we forgot about Grand Prix Legends and lost it out of sight for almost 20 years.
In 2018 we recognized that there is still a big GPL-community with online-leagues holding races - we were infected, what a pleasure!
In 2024 we decided to "revive" and build a long forgotten racetrack for this sim: "Ennstalring"
An Austrian racetrack used for motorcycle races until mid 70ies. It was a "pitstop" for racers between Italian races and north European events. The track starts on a long stonebridge follows the river Enns and turns steeply up the hill where on top an almost jump through a little villagebend leads back down the scenic valey..

More details here:
In 1998, Grand Prix 3, simply driven with pc-keyboard, was without doubt our top favorite. Back in 2012, as a kind a tribute, we developed "UNIVERSEmod". A standalone mod for GP3, offering all complete f1-seasons from 1996 to 2015. Including all teams and tracks plus a bunch of extensions and 500+ tracks ready to race.

Important:
- plz read "GP3MODform.txt" to install / especially keep in mind pt.11 of instructions!
& remember:
- get all f1-seasons and mod working properly by always using "GP3 UNIVERSE.bat" for loading files!
System preferences:
- WinXP-8 (native/best performance, but your GPU must support DX7.1 for native run!)
- on newer systems use a wrapper like "dgvoodo"
- NON COMMERCIAL, HOME USAGE ONLY!
